PHOTOGRAPHIC  DESIGN

Photographic Design, to me, is my way of making digital collage with photographs that are not my own. I love the art of collage, especially done digitally with a program such as Adobe Photoshop. However, before I really got into photography and bought my own camera, I didn’t have good pictures of my own to work with, so I used pictures from other photographers. These pictures, of course, are pulled from free websites that artists upload onto for the purpose of their work being used by others without attribution. By appropriating and remixing the images of others, I was able to make my own photographic scenarios come to life without touching a camera. Of course, more freedom comes with directing and taking your own photos, hence why I got into it. This work is put into the Graphic Design section because they aren’t my photos, and it felt disingenuous to put them right next to photos that are 100% mine. Regardless, this is work I am proud of and want to show.
